Thanks John for taking time out of your busy schedule to answer our questions today. Lets dive right in.

Gary Griffiths (GG): So John, what were you up to prior to becoming Chief Duct Tape Marketer?

John Jantsch (JJ): Probably the best description is the more typical marketing consulting agency - we got hired to do a lot of marketing related project for large organizations.

GG: What was your inspiration to start Duct Tape Marketing?

JJ: I love working with small businesses but always struggled with doing so in the traditional model. I created Duct Tape Marketing so I could create a turn-key systematic approach, one that allowed me to deliver on a need and still make money doing it.

GG: What problem does Duct Tape Marketing help business owners solve, and how?

JJ: Small business owners suffer from marketing idea of the week syndrome and Duct Tape Marketing coaches install a marketing system that allows the business owner to focus on a marketing strategy that delivers consistent results.

GG: John, you interview alot of well know business leaders, which interview did you enjoy most and why?

JJ: Wow, no way am I going to answer that, too many great ones. Seth Godin is always fun, Chris Brogan is great to talk with, Steven Covey is very inspirational, and I could talk to David Allen all day.

GG: This year, 2009, I think you have trained more new Duct Tape Marketing coaches than any other year. What do you think is behind this growth?

JJ: Well, we simply continue to build, know, like and trust in the world of folks looking to partner with a proven brand, but I'll confess that the uncertain economy has some folks looking for ways to start their own business as part of a network that is stable and growing.

GG: Rumour has it you have authored a new book. Can you tell us a little of what it's about?

JJ: Sure, The Referral Engine will be out next spring from Portfolio and in it I cover the entire idea of referral generation as a primary business building activity. But be warned, it's not some magic script, a great deal of it is about being more referable!

GG: Whats something not many people know about you?

JJ: I was a musician in a former life and do it now simply as a way to irritate my children

GG: Finally, when are you coming down to Australia next?

JJ: Let's make that happen soon - would love to round up and train an army of folks down under.

GG: John, thanks again for taking the time to answer our questions today. I am sure our readers will get something out of this, and I especially love the little scoop you have given us about your new book - The Referral Engine! All the best and take care.
